You might notice that there are no prices listed for the bikes that GRAYBAND sells.  That’s because there is no such thing as a “stock” bike here.  Even if you end up with a manufacturer’s stock frame size, there are dozens of options that I go over with every client based on their needs, wants and desires.  From a different fork, to a custom paint job, a different spoke gauge or lacing pattern on the wheels, every bike is purpose built from the ground up for each individual customer.

Ae.  Aero.  Softride invented the beam bike and they still do it the best.  It is the most aerodynamic bike on the market today (wind tunnel results to prove it) as well as the most comfortable.  If you’re concerned about top speed, back problems or ride on Paris-Roubaix style roads, this bike MUST be considered.  All manufacturing is done here in the United States and quality is as good as any you’ll see on a production frame.  Custom?

Not necessary on a Softride because they have by far the widest range of fitting adjustment of any bike available.  But buy one of these speed demons and be prepared to answer a few questions from riders who you pass!

C.  Carbon fiber.  This is the black magic material that so many riders want but so few builders really know how to work with.  And nobody does a true custom carbon frame.  Well, almost no one.  Parlee cycles provides what was once thought to be unthinkable.  Frame weight of under 1 kilo (2.2 lbs) for a 56cm.  Bottom bracket stiffness equal to the stiffest oversized aluminum.  The road smoothing qualities of carbon fiber.   Unmatched durability with a lifetime warrantee.   Custom built to the point that not only can the geometry be customized but also the ride quality.

Fe & Al.  Steel and Aluminum.

Ti.  Titanium.  Roarke manufacturing is probably a company you’ve never heard of.  Bikes are a sideline for them.  What Roarke has been doing to pay its bills for the last 50 years is build titanium engine components and hydraulic systems for B2 stealth bombers, F16’s and NASA.  Their manufacturing standards are definitely higher than Seven, Merlin or Lightspeed because the US government demands they be.  And because of their level of sophistication working with this miracle metal, they are able to manipulate it like no other.  There is a reason why they do the only ovalized s-bend chainstay in the industry.  Because in order to s-bend and ovalize a chainstay you need a Hayes electric furnace. And it costs about a million dollars.  Every Roarke is welded to your measurements and specifications by the same welders that work on the NASA and defense department contracts.  Custom 3 2/5 titanium and a full carbon fork for under $2100. (that is less than a Merlin standard with no custom measurements!)

FS. Full Suspension.  Cross Country.  Trail bike.  Freeride.  Dual slalom.  Downhill. The fact of the matter, full suspension continues to evolve to the point that the truly evolutionary concepts are not coming from the big companies but from the small production builders.  Most of these builders usually specialize in one particular discipline so that depending on what type of mountain biking is your “thing”, Grayband can set you up with a truly special mountain bike that will make it a joy to get dirty!
