Grayband - Chassis

Part one of GRAYBAND involves putting you on the right chassis. This means the ultimate fitting service. Your body measurements are taken and plugged into formulas from The Fit Kit, the Italian cycling federation’s C.O.N.I. manual, and the Greg Lemond fitting formula. The results of all three are then plugged into a “Look” sizing cycle (similar to the Serotta size cycle) and “Salsa Size-o-matic” adjustable stem and compared to your current bike.

Your “ideal” frame dimensions are then compared to the manufactures specifications of every frame builder (major manufacturers and custom builders) available in our extensive database. We will also take you through an extensive interview that focuses on your athletic background and medical history to pick out specific models that suit your riding style and preferences.

GRAYBAND has chosen to represent a select few and specific frame builders that we feel represent the pinnacle of function, form, value, craftsmanship and state of the art technology and materials. You would notice that there is little redundancy among these companies’ products; Calfee for carbon, Roarke for titanium, Bellesi for the ultimate in custom Italian steel and aluminum, Softride for aero, and Foes for mountain bikes. No corporate mentalities. No huge advertising budgets. Just small companies with the passion and experience to build the finest quality bicycles in the world.

But if you have your heart set on a specific brand, we have access to most of the major manufacturer’s products. And we have so much experience doing high end niche products, don’t think because it isn’t mentioned here, we haven’t built it or can’t have it built including observed trials, loaded touring, bmx, pursuit and sprint track bikes, single speed, and downhill. And we have built bikes for people from under 4 feet tall to nearly seven feet tall. We’ve done it all!
